Microcredit where it is needed most
Gaining access to credit is one of the main challenges facing millions of Guatemalans, mostly indigenous people living in rural areas of the country. The Asociación Fondo para el Desarrollo Solidario (FONDESOL), a Guatemalan Solidarity Development Fund, has established a rural microfinance program to support the expansion of commercial and productive activities for low-income microentrepreneurs and small producers.

The program has provided microcredit to more than 10,000 people in rural Guatemala.
