Rejuvenating the Small Retail Sector
URUGUAY
Facing increased competitition from large supermarkets, fast-food chains and informal vendors, along with changing consumer preferences, traditional small retailers in Uruguay have needed to change the way they do business to survive. To help small retailers compete in a changing marketplace, this project took on the challenge of rejuvenating the sector both by working with companies individually and by improving the business climate as a whole, generating a market environment conducive to business innovation and fostering cooperation among retailers.
