Learning at a Distance in Rural Uruguay


URUGUAY

Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) play an increasingly important role in creating new opportunities for development and growth in rural areas. Aiming to improve the competitiveness of Uruguay’s agricultural sector, particularly cattle ranchers, this pilot project validated a Technology Transfer System through distance learning courses. Using the Internet, these courses give rural farmers the knowledge, management tools and other information they need to improve the productivity of their agri-businesses.
