Despite being a traditional sector on the island, furniture manufacturers could not compete with prices from other parts of Latin America

Improving Processes, Changing Lives

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Furniture made in the Dominican Republic, particularly pieces made out of mahogany, is in high demand in specialized markets. However, despite the renowned quality of this product, problems in the production process have traditionally led to less competitive prices in international markets with respect to other Latin American and Caribbean countries.

The creation of small and medium enterprise (SME) clusters in the furniture and textile sectors in Santiago de Caballeros has helped to reduce costs and improve work processes, enhancing the overall competitiveness of these traditional sectors.
