A Fund with Small Entrepreneurs in Mind
COSTA RICA
Stimulating the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in tough economic times does not come easy. In fact, even when times are good, it is hard for the majority of SMEs in Latin America to access the financing they need to grow their businesses.
The MIF invested in a venture capital fund that has given six companies in Costa Rica, Guatemala and El Salvador the push they needed to keep growing.

The MIF-EMERGE Fund Project has provided financing to 6 SMEs from Costa Rica, El Salvador and Guatemala.

The EMERGE Fund has 4 investors: MIF, NORFUND from Norway, FMO from the Netherlands and the UK’s CDC Group.

A high percentage of the employees of the 6 participating companies are women.

The selected SMEs are dedicated to corporate social responsibility.
